This program is a cheat app. It allows you to change everything from the amount of money you have right down to the exact locations of all your units. It was made freelance, so expect bugs. If you play around in it for long enough it will crash, guarranteed. Some of the features are nearly impossible to use because they are so user-unfriendly. However, compared to manually editing the saved game file using a hex editor (as shown in the cheats section), this program is a god-send.

To be honest, I really have no idea how to use this program. Despite my best efforts, I cannot get it to work. However, I have seen it work once a long time ago, so I know that using it is possible. I know that you have to create a game first and then open it and edit the map that way, and I know that it takes a virtual eternity to actually create a complete map using it. Some people have heard a lot about this program but never seen it and don’t believe it exists; it’s kind of a Civilization 1 Myth. Well, I can’t get it to work but I’m supplying it anyway. Just don’t whine to me about how it doesn’t work. On the other hand, if you actually do get it to work, email me and tell me how. I will put up a little thing here explaining it and give credit to the person who discovered how.

Where can I buy Civ1?

Civ1 is nowhere to be found in stores, but you can usually find copies of Civ1 on eBay. You can also find other Sid Meier classics such as Pirates and Colonization on eBay. eBay is a safe and a very popular online marketplace.

Emulator configuration

You can choose which game version you want to use, then you have to choose the right game executable and press PLAY.

To exit fullscreen mode, press escape. Playing experience can be poor due to your browser or your computer. Download Sid Meier's Civilization and launch it with DOSBox to have the best playing experience!

If the game is too fast or too slow, try hitting CTRL-F11 (slower) and CTRL-F12 (faster).

Great game. Except the emulator craps out usually around the year 1400-1500 due to data overflow/locking up. Save often, so otherwise you don't lose your progress. And yes, you can save on here.

Uncheck in the option: Instant advice, Autosave and Animations. After this I can finally enjoy the game without freeze.

To fix the game freeze during production, go to Options and uncheck the advice option when you start the game.

Sometimes when you go to change production the game freezes when the military adviser suggest a production. You cannot unfreeze the game and have to restart. VERY frustrating.

The game cursor did not work on my computer either, until I found these settings, for perfect results:
- Game only works in FULLSCREEN mode (blue menu on top of the screen)
- only works with the MOUSE (not a stylus)
- I block the SHIFT key, to allow shortcut with the keyboard (ie: B for build a new city, R for build road, F for fortify, etc.)
- At the beginning of the game (yellow letters on black background), press 1, 1, 1 for each question.

great game works on chrome book if you select mouse and keyboard and you can slightly adjust the mouse to click on cites and you use alt+one of the leters that opens up the sub menu to access stuff like Game and Orders.

Works perfectly fine on windows 10 Chrome. Random quiz is actually anti pirate protection from back in a day. Answers were in a manual supplied with the original purchase. Funny enough these are just questions about what do you need to invent something. Most of it is common sense.

game is playable but occasionally there is a bug where you cant exit the city view and it gets stuck and you have to start a new game, if you use the saved files they tend to be corrupted too after you get stuck in a city view in the same city.

If the torch doesn't take, forget it!!! It will have you onlu building malias until some one attacks and kills you. You may as well kill the game and start over! You can use youtube before you start the game or anything else that requires the uses of the cursor! You have to cut it off until the game starts.

You only need to hit 1 a couple of times, then stop. Then the game is playable.
After you win (:P), do not click on any replay as it shows nothing except for 4000 B.C. unless there is a certain key you have to press that I overlooked.
